Changing Lives

Jesus Christ died and rose again so lives could be changed.

Next door to the Cathedral, the Heart Foundation have been transforming their new premises. It looks bright and welcoming, bringing light and colour to the corner of Castle Street.

It’s interesting that there is a great buzz of excitement when houses or gardens or facilities are made to look new or better. Just look at the success of all those house and garden face lift programmes. My garden at the moment is just a sea of mud, it looks a mess. On Good Friday the disciples thought, how could it all have gone so wrong, it’s a mess. ‘Then all the disciples deserted him and fled’. (Matthew 26: 56) So they ran away to hide. Their lives were like a building site gone wrong. Maybe that’s how you’re feeling at the moment. How could it all have gone so badly wrong?

I know my garden will be rotavated, seed will be sown and it will be changed from being a sea of mud. The frightened and confused disciples would become men of faith, like had never been seen in the world before. How could this happen?

Just as my garden will he changed by the new life that comes to the earth in Spring, just as the disciples’ lives were brought to New Life, so our lives can be changed and transformed by the most important events to ever take place in the world. It began with the sacrifice of God’s only Son on Good Friday and then on Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ rose again from the dead!

The risen Lord Jesus intervened in the lives of his disciples, ‘When they saw him they worshipped him, but some doubted’. (Matthew 28: 17) The same living Lord Jesus is still meeting personally with people and he is still changing lives today. Over the past few months we have had a number of people telling their story of how God has brought about a change in their lives. Our aim as a church is always to increase the number of people coming to Christ so their lives can be transformed. The Story of EASTER, ‘He is not dead, he is risen!’ (Matthew 28: 6) is one that can be true of your life too. What ever you’re facing the Lord Jesus wants you to know his love and guidance. All who trust in Christ as Saviour are born again, they receive new life. Do come to worship Jesus and receive new life through the Risen Saviour this Easter!
