Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise (Psalm 48)It has been an incredible summer, with lots of different events and trips. I hope you have been blessed through some of those events. I must admit it started off poorly for me. We had been praying regularly and yet it was looking increasingly likely that we would not have members for our year out team. So I went off on my holidays a little downhearted. Then, the day I returned, I met with Judith Cairns from Youth for Christ, who asked if I’d still be willing to take two young adults to join our team. Would I be willing? I was just bursting to have them join us. Truly as the Psalmist says: ‘Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God’. Through a truly amazing set of circumstances we now have our year out team, Zara, Meredith and Craig. Zara, from Portadown, joined us at the start of September and has already made a powerful impact in working among us for the Lord. Meredith has flown in from North Carolina and she and Craig, who is from Dromore, have just completed four weeks training with Youth for Christ. All three have now moved in to their new home in Meeting House Lane. It is a tremendous privilege for us to have these three people come and share in the ministry of Lisburn Cathedral. They have three specific areas for their service with us; Fusion Youth Ministry, our Student work and Lunches, and the Hillhall Outreach. I would commend each of them personally and their families to your prayers and ask that you would please give them your support and lots of encouragement. Perhaps you’d like to invite them for a meal (nothing beats being part of a family meal) or perhaps in some other way you could help them feel welcome in Lisburn Cathedral. It is possible for all of us to lose sight of what we are doing as servants of the King of Kings and at such times we need to refocus and realise we are here to help others find Christ and His Salvation. Please pray for Zara, Meredith and Craig as they share the gospel and that there may be a response that will see many coming to that place of eternal security with Christ as their Lord, for this life and the next in Heaven to come.
