Something Beautiful!

Two church members were going door to door. They knocked on the door of a woman who clearly was not happy to see them. She told them in no uncertain terms that she did not want to hear their message and then slammed the door in their To her surprise, the door did not close. In fact, it bounced back open.

She tried again, really put her back into the job, and slammed the door again.

Same results. The door bounced back like it was made of Silly Putty.

Convinced one of these rude church members was sticking a foot in the door, she reared back to give the door a slam that would teach them a lesson.

Just then, one of the church members said, ‘Excuse me, Madam, but before you do that again, you might want to move your cat.’

Please be gracious to our Serving, Giving Growing parish visitors as they call with you this autumn - and make sure the cat is in a safe place!

We have been called together in this church to be good news to those around us and alongside us. Every one of us has been given gifts by God to benefit others. ‘God handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist and pastor- teacher to train Christians in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body the church, faces, until we are moving rhythmically and easily with each other.’ (Ephesians 4: 11-12, The Message) The gifts from God, are for us to benefit his church

Are you using your gifts to build up the church of Christ ? Jean Vanier paints a beautiful picture of the church as, ‘a community, like a garden full of flowers, shrubs and trees. Each helps give life to the other. Together, they bear witness to the beauty of God, creator and gardener - extraordinary’

The reason this campaign is taking place is to encourage better stewardship by Christians and to enable us to witness more effectively at home and on other continents.

Our focus will be on worldwide mission, some of those who have been serving on mission teams in recent times will be sharing their experiences as part of our worship in the coming weeks.

We are looking forward to the times ahead, as we seek to build up a beautiful people for Christ who witness to his love and grace.

Sam Wright , Rector
