Wake up - Jesus is Alive!

On Good Friday a little girl went to worship the Lord Jesus at her church. That night she prayed: “Thank you Jesus for dying on the Cross. And thank you that we didn’t have to watch.” In the weeks leading up to Easter we have been watching and responding to the Cross -

IN THE SHADOW OF THE CROSS

We have been following a bible study course called, “In the Shadow of the Cross.” It has been good to think deeply about those who travelled with Jesus on his final journey to Jerusalem . We have stood alongside those who went with the Lord and we have been opening our eyes to see how various people reacted to the crucifixion. We have examined our responses and the impact of the cross for our lives today.

EXPERIENCING THE CROSS

Then from Palm Sunday to Good Friday we are going to journey on with the Lord to experience the Cross. We will look at the Cross from the perspective of the four gospels, to see the great price he paid for us but also to experience the great freedom he has won for us. It is only at the Cross that the depths of our sin is revealed and exposed, and the depth of His love is expressed and the joy of new life experienced.

This Easter more people than ever will watch the Lord Jesus portrayed in a very harrowing manner when they go to see the movie “ The Passion of Christ”. This horrific death of the Son of God was the only remedy for our sins and the only way that we could be forgiven and receive eternal life. No wonder then that Jesus prayed: "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done" (Matthew 26:42). There was no other way, only the blood of the sinless son of God could set us free from our sins.

WAKE UP, HE IS ALIVE.

Then on Easter Sunday the women went to the tomb and found it empty. The angel said to them, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay”. Those women experienced God’s resurrection power, they and many others since have met with the risen Christ. You too can experience everlasting life when you wake up to the reality of the Cross and the Resurrection.

Jesus is knocking at your heart's door.   He extends an invitation to you to open your heart and let Him come in.   You can hold on to your lies, sinful actions, your guilt and your shame or you can open your heart and experience Pure Love, Complete Forgiveness, Absolute Wholeness, and Everlasting Life. This Easter is a wonderful time for many to do more than see Jesus in a movie, it’s an opportunity to experience His forgiveness and wake up to the new life that He offers.

Pray.   "God, thank you for what You have done for me. I believe You sent Jesus to die for my sins instead of me. I believe Jesus rose again to give me everlasting life. Please forgive me for the wrong things I have done. Please give me a new and clean heart. I invite you into my life. Teach me to do everything You want me to do and to follow You all the days of my life. I pray this believing in what Jesus did for me. Amen."
