Christmas? What’s It All About?

To experience the true meaning of Christmas, we need to travel back to the town of Bethlehem, and to walk with some shepherds on the hills outside the town. They are going about their job of keeping watch over their flock, when something happens that changes their lives forever. Suddenly a tremendous light appears in the sky, God’s glory shines upon them and the angel says to them:

‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.’ Luke 2: 10

These men out on the hills suddenly see God in a new light. A God who speaks to their lives and offers them the opportunity to change. He gives them a chance to break out of the rut of living without hope. The way is opened for them to really step forward with the Son of God, born to make a real difference to their lives. The message of 2000 years ago is just as bright and clear to us today.

It’s a message for you of...

‘GOOD NEWS’

How does Good news make you feel when you hear it? Think back to the last time you heard some good news - You felt joyful, bubbly, refreshed and looked forward to the future, expectant of more good things to follow! God not only has good news for you, lie wants to accomplish good news in you.

‘GREAT JOY’

Good news brings great joy when it becomes personal; when it involves us as individuals. if you read of an achievement in the paper, then it’s good news. But if you achieve it yourself…that’s great joy!

'FOR ALL PEOPLE’

Good news isn’t like the local newspaper, limited to the area of its circulation. It is for everyone from the Prime Minister to the homeless vagrant, for the young child and the senior citizen, for the winner of ‘Who wants to he a Millionaire’ and the person on benefits: the good news is for everyone.

God’s glory is revealed to shepherds walking the hills and to each of us. Will you open your life to the message of Good News by receiving Christ, by believing in Him and allowing Him to enter into your Life?

May you know the peace and joy of Christ this Christmas.
